Alberta M. Walton

January 1st, 1941 – June 17th, 2016

Alberta M. Walton, 75, of Canton, passed away at 12:25 pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton. She was born on January 1, 1941 in Lewistown, the daughter of Samuel and Henrietta (Buley) Switzer. Alberta married John Walton on April 12, 1961 in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1974.

Also preceding her in death is her daughter, Edith Ann Walton, 3 sisters, Pearl Walker, Ethel Lojack and Alice Jenkins and 2 brothers, Earl Switzer and Roy Switzer.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (and Alan) Shuman of Beardstown, 2 sons, Michael Walton of Beardstown and John (and Mellissa) Walton of Canton, 7 grandchildren, Joseph Shuman, Amber Shuman, Damien Walton, Devin Walton, Skylea Shockency, Brayden Walton and Jenessa Walton, 1 great-granddaughter, Aleigha Von Drehle, and 2 sister, Midge Green and Jennie Switzer, both of Canton.

Alberta was a homemaker and worked as a janitor and in the kitchen at FCRC.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Astoria, the Salvation Army in Canton and the Home League. She enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons, playing the keyboard and her birds. She loved to go walks but most of all she loved her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Astoria Cemetery in Astoria. Pastor Stephen Bounds will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Graham Hospice.
