Nyda E. Hamblin Adcock

June 17th, 1933 – June 26th, 2016

Nyda Ellen Adcock, age 83 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 9:03 am on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at her home in Astoria. She was born on June 17, 1933 in Astoria, the daughter of Perry and Sybil (Shaw) Brown. On June 17, 1951, Nyda married Richard W. Hamblin in Astoria. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1994. She later married Irvin A. Adcock on August 31, 1996 in Astoria. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2008.

Nyda was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Madlyn Noelle "Maddie" Rhoades, her brother Junior Brown and her sister Darlene Camp.

She is survived by her son Stephen (and Donna) Hamblin, her two daughters, Lynette (and John) Smith and Jody (and Michael) Dean, all of Astoria, IL, 5 grandchildren; Amanda (and Jason) Rennert, Sibyl (and Chris) Jones, Ashley (and Noah) Willis, Jed (and Haily) Rhoades, and Katie Ratcliff, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Nyda was a member of the Astoria Christian Church where she sang in the church choir and was part of the Women's Fellowship. She served as Astoria Township Clerk for many years. She was a member of the Sunshine Club of Astoria.

She worked throughout her life in the Astoria area, last working as manager at Hamblin's Service in Astoria.

Nyda loved being a housewife, mom, and grandmother.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 29th at 10:30 am at the Astoria Christian Church. Jason Rennert will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28th from 5-7 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Memorials may be made to her church or the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery.

Will never foget the great times and fun we all had at choir practices, and ladies fellowship at the Christian Church so many years ago...Nyda had such a beautiful voice and I so enjoyed those days...so sorry for all the family and such a loss to so many people who knew and enjoyed her company! Part of my most treasured memories of 18 years at AHS were the wonderful Hamblin family neighbors aqross the alley. Especially remembering Steve, Donna, Lynette having worked so many times with the as well as Jody. My deepest regrets and sympathy. My last chat with Nyda was in the town park at Rushville following Jody W.'s summer band concert two years ago, a direct connection to those many years of them in Astoria. Steve and Lynette, I am very late and apologize but please accept my deep sympathy from standpoint of working with her at AGS for years as well as many as neighbor across the alley. Last talking to her summer of 2013 in Rushville Park after Jody's band concert. Family passing and then years of health challenges stopped me from hoping to see her in succeeding summers but she did explain her own health concern.
