Virginia R. McCormick

August 20th, 1930 – July 13th, 2016

Virginia R. McCormick, 85, of Astoria, passed at 1:36 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at McDonough District Hospital ER, in Macomb. She was born on August 20, 1930 in Ray, the daughter of Leonard and Alliene (Aten) Brockley. Virginia married Phillip “Bud” McCormick on February 12, 1949 in Canton, IL. Bud preceded Virginia in death on April 5, 2006.

Also preceding her in death is her son, Rick McCormick and sister, Doris Kost.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Scott McCormick of Astoria and Chris (and Roberta) McCormick of Astoria, 5 grandchildren, Chad McCormick, Blake McCormick, Jordan Kinkead, Rachel (and Terrence) Anderson and Vanessa McCormick, 1 great-grandson, Gage McNew, sister, Donna Farr of Table Grove and her brother, David (and Norma) Brockley of Vermont.

Virginia worked at the Vermont Foundry in Vermont, Steven’s Publishing in Astoria and various other stores in Astoria.

She was also a farmwife and a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church and Pythian Sisters Lodge of Astoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. David Little will be officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Cemetery or the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
