John S. Hadsall, Jr.

January 2nd, 1944 – December 31st, 2016

John S. Hadsall, Jr. age 72 of Normal, Illinois, formerly of Ipava, passed away at 1:03 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home in Normal. He was born on January 2, 1944 in Canton, IL, the son of John and Virginia (Harding) Hadsall, Sr. On November 24, 1962, John married Phyllis J. Hopping in Ipava, IL. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2016.

John was also preceded in death by his parents..

John was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1963 to 1967. He also was in the US Army reserves, serving in the 733 Maintenance Division in Canton and the Medical Unit in Peoria, with a rank of Sergeant 1st Class.

He worked as a machinist at Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He then worked as a clerk for True Value Hardware in Woodhaven, IL.

John was a member of the Sublette, IL American Legion Post and the UAW Local 974 of East Peoria, IL.

He was an avid St. Louis cardinal fan.

John is survived by his four sons; Brian (and Deborah) of Stanford, IL, Keith of Omaha, NE, Scott (and Jackie) of Benson, IL and Christofer (and Georgi) of Oswego, IL, 5 grandchildren; Matthew (and Ashley), Jacob (and Katie), Danny, Jack, and Connor, 4 great-grandchildren; Logan, Riley, Elowen, and Emmersyn, and 2 sisters, Esther (and Bob) Brush and Rochelle (and Todd) Jones, both of Lewistown, IL.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 11:00 am at the Berean Christian Church in Ipava. Pastor Doug Krukewitt will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by the Ipava American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
