My parents and Janet's were best friends. On one of the occasions I was drug along to Footsie's house to visit and bored to death, I entertained myself by going thru absent Janet's large ( to me then) and exotic record collection. My eyes grew large over the artwork on albums by Vanilla Fudge, Led Zeppelin and other artists who never got played on the radio then. How did she learn about them, growing up in Astoria? Now skip ahead 40 years +. My mother is now in the Astoria Nursing Home. She suffered dementia and didn't know those taking care of her except for one. She had an aide who seemed to keep a special eye on her. I tracked her down to find out her name and to thank her for the care she was providing. She knew who I was and said she was Footsie's girl and she was glad to be able to help her dad's best friend's wife. Thank you Janet. My condolences to her family and friends. Steve Shaw

Our family "inherited" Janet when she was 11 yr old, her mother died and we lived next door so she spent a lot of time at our house when Footsy worked. She stayed close to our family through the years and we considered her our other sister. Our kids grew up with "Aunt Janet" and her kids call Mom & Dad "Grandpa & Grandma Coita",we were all their Aunts & Uncles. Our kids all consider each other as cousins. She will be greatly missed by us all of the Fairburn Family
