Mary Ellen Beatty

January 24th, 1933 – March 3rd, 2018

Mary Ellen Beatty, age 85 of Cuba, IL, passed away at 3:40 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba, IL. She was born on January 24, 1933 in Schuyler County, IL, the daughter of Russell and Ruth (Leonard) Marquis. She married Carroll Beatty on August 12, 1960 in Rushville, IL. They had 57 good years together and he survives.

Also surviving are her two children, Ruth Ann (and Andy) Schoof of Cuba, IL and Mark (and Jenny) Beatty of Lewistown, IL, four grandchildren; Austen (and Brittany) Schoof, Zach Zimmerman, Zoe Zimmerman, and Noah Beatty, , one sister Joann Stone of Mesa, AZ, and two brothers, Robert Marquis and Larry (and Sandy) Marquis, both of Rushville, IL.

Mary Ellen is also survived by her beloved cat, Sophie. She so loved her fur babies.

She worked at the Clayberg Nursing Home as a housekeeper, retiring in 1995 so she could enjoy her grandchildren, gardening, and camping with her husband and good friends.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Cuba Cemetery. Kevin Stoneking will officiate. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Memorials may be given in Mary Ellen's memory to the Clayberg Nursing Home.
