Karen S. Sager

November 10th, 1953 – June 21st, 2018

Karen S. Sager, 64, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 10:29 am on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her home. She was born on November 10, 1953 in Browning, IL, the daughter of Junior “Bill” and Dorothy (Edwards) Stambaugh. Karen married Kevin Sager on July 10, 1977 in Astoria, IL.

Survivors include her son, Adam Sager of Astoria, 2 sisters, Patsy (and Mike) Belden and Alicia (and Rick) Hager, both of Pleasant Plains, IL, 2 brothers, Gary (and Lila) Stambaugh of Fayetteville, IL and Dennis (and Debbie) Stambaugh of Beardstown, IL, sister-in-law, Peggy Stambaugh of Browning, and special friend, Larry Jones of Astoria.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother, Billy Stambaugh.

Karen was a CNA at Astoria Gardens. She also worked at the Fulton County Rehabilitation Center. She was a volunteer at Mississippi Valley Blood Center and the South Fulton Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program.

She was a member of the Fulton County HEA and the Astoria Rescue Squad. She was named Mrs. Astoria 2017.

Karen loved cats.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, June 24th, 2018 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Lisa Fike will be officiating. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Interment will be in the Ridgeville Cemetery in Browning. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad.

So sorry to hear about this. Karen was "Everyone's Friend"! She was always willing to help anyone that she could. We will miss her popping in to the Diner and she never left without a "hug and a Love ya Jerry"! So sad, it breaks my heart after all she went through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I worked so many years with Karen at the Astoria Nursing Home--I think we go back to the '70s. I have never known a kinder, sweeter person, always with a smile and her little hum, that we all chuckled about. Be at peace, Karen, knowing how many lives you have touched while you were with all of us. Our sympathy to all her family.
