Jack Whitwell

December 28th, 1939 – February 25th, 2015

Jack Whitwell, age 75, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 5:35 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on December 28, 1939 in Trinity County, TX, the son of Benjamin and Marie (Rushing) Whitwell. He married his best friend Judy Rivas on September 2, 1987 in Montgomery, TX. She survives.

Also surviving are his three daughters, Pamela (and Brent) Croan of Olathe, KS, Jackie (and John) Dodd of Morton, IL, and Tricia (and Brian) Mullins of Woodland Park, CO, four grandchildren; Stephanie McCombs of Astoria, lL, Cady Hammack of Ft. Collins, CO, Ryan Mullins of Austin, TX, and Caitlin Mullins of Woodland Park, CO, two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Nolan McCombs of Astoria, IL, his brother Bill I(and Shirley) Whitwell of Joplin, MO, and his sister Betty Jean (and Homer) Stokes of Whitehouse, TX.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin Whitwell, and his brother Michael Whitwell.

He was an Operator at Goodyear Chemical Plant in Houston, TX for 32 years, retiring in 1999.

Jack was a member of the United Auto Workers and loved football. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a family memorial service will be planned at a slater date.
