Geraldine Malott

October 22nd, 1935 – May 10th, 2015

Geraldine Malott, age 79, passed away at 8:40 am Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Snyders Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville, IL. She was born on October 22, 1935 in Tamaroa, IL, a daughter of Thaddeus and Martha (Bednarkiewcz) Zielinski. Geraldine married Frank Edward Piotrowski, Sr. on May 15, 1954 in Tamaroa, IL. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1983. She then married Harold Malott on December 22, 1984 in Pinckneyville, IL. He survives and resides in Astoria, IL.

Also surviving are her son Stephen Piotrowski of Tamaroa, IL, two daughters, Julia (and Raymond) Bathon of Pinckneyville, IL and Deborah (and Steven) Kellerman of Tamaroa, IL, her daughter-in-law Donna Piotrowski of Tamaroa, IL, two step-daughters, Teresa (and Scott) Burget and Beverly (and Gary) Taylor, both of Rushville, IL, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one sister Shirley (and Edward) Walker of Sparta, IL.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, one son Frank Edward Piotrowski, Jr., one brother Alexander Zielinski, and two sisters, Leona Molitor and Josephine Majewski.

Geraldine was a housewife. She then worked at Mallory in Pinckneyville, IL and the Blue Bell Packing House in Duquoin, IL. She then became a Registered Nurse and was Director of Nursing for the Pinckneyville Community Hospital's Skilled Care Unit.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tamaroa, IL and the Catholic Daughters of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville, IL for the last 20 years.

Geraldine loved to play cards, especially pinochle, and visit the casinos. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She liked to crochet, go bargain hunting at yard sales and auctions, and shopping for shoes.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Tamaroa, IL, following services at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, IL. Those services are yet to be announced.
